While a new year marks new, fresh beginnings for most, 2014 will unfortunately mark the end of Tamarai. As a firm member of Cairo bars and clubs, the rooftop hotspot will bid farewell to the city’s clubbing contingent, leaving an empty space at the Nile City Towers – and in our hearts, obviously.
Say what you will about Tamarai, but no one can deny that it has been the site for some of the biggest events Cairo has seen over the last five years; the best of Egypt’s local talent and some of the biggest names on the club scene in Europe and beyond have blessed the sacred terrace with sick tunes and the occasional phat beat, yo.
But with two weeks still to go, you better bet your cold December ass that the guys and gals at Tamarai are going to cram as much partying as possible, and there’s still plenty going on.
On New Year’s Eve, meanwhile, Tamarai will sign off with what we’re hearing will be a spectacular NYE party, Discreet: End Of An Era.
And so with a heavy heart and bottom lip quivering uncontrollably, CG salutes you, Tamarai, for your brave services to clubbing in Cairo. Over and out.
