    Aside from the usual spate of nightlife events, this weekend is shaping up to be the busiest of the month along the North Coast, with Tabla, Exit, the Tap North, 6IX Degrees and Club Central all gearing up for a messy few days…

    BACK 2 BASICS: FUNKY FRESH @ TABLA

    Ismail Kassem and the Back to Basics troops have been conspicuous in their absence this summer, but you didn’t really think they would let a Sahel Season pass without getting in on the action, did you? Said action comes in the form of Funky Fresh, which will see DJs Nita, Jimmy and the Awadi Brothers provide the music at Tabla.

    BAHER + AKLADIOS. + KIDMIMS; @ EXIT

    One of this year’s newcomers, Exit, is gearing up for another busy weekend, with Thursday seeing the club welcome back the enigma that is Baher, as well as two of the best female DJs in Egypt right now, the deadly duo of Akladios and kidmims;, who take to the decks for back-to-back sets.

    Club Central has also impressed in its inaugural season in Sahel thanks in large to a steady stream of topnotch bookings, the latest of which comes in the form of ‘The Emperor of Tech’ , Matthias Tanzmann, alongside a man whose literally been everywhere this summer along the coast, Abou Samra.

    KEVIN LYTTLE @ 6IX DEGREES

    2003 hit , Turn Me On, propelled Vincentian soca and dancehall singer, Kevin Lyttle, to worldwide fame and though he’s only sporadically made music since, the last few years has seen him get back on the proverbial horse. Said horse has brought him to 6IX Degrees this weekend, with DJ KaBoo and and Cairo’s Lyon Avakian rounding off what is shaping up to be a a night of the duurrrtiest order.

    FUNK N POP @ MARASSI

    Although it seemed that the pre-Sahel Season rumours of Nacelle taking Funk N Pop weren’t going to come to fruition, it’s finally happened and everyone’s going ape-shit about it – and for good reason. It’s Funk N Pop, but on a frickin’ beach. Entertainment, meanwhile, comes in the form the Meteors Project, Disco Misr, Man-O and more.

    BETOKO + AGUIZI & FAHIM @ THE TAP NORTH

    The Tap North‘s highlight event of the weekend is a mighty tasty one, with Mexican DJ, Betoko, returning to Egypt, with cheeky chappies, Aguizi & Fahim taking on opening duties. Fun fact: ‘Betoko’ is an amalgamation of his real first name and surname – Beto Cohen.

    Tech and progressive house are on the menu at Exit‘s Friday feast, with your chef for the evening being Kiev native, Stas Drive. Also in the proverbial kitchen on the night are sous chefs, Abou Samra and Fayek. Yes, in this metaphor, Exit is a restaurant. And yes, music is food.

    POOL PARTY W/ MARC WAHBA + OMAR EL SABH @ THE TAP NORTH

    Despite having his hands full with Zigzag renovations, Marc Wahba has been popping up more and more at parties this summer, particularly at the Tap North, where he has lead several of the venue’s pool parties. This time round, he gets a little help from a man he’s shared the stage with countless times before, Omar El Sabh.
