  • Eid in Sahel: 10 Parties Not to Be Missed

    1sahel-16-eid-main

Here we are again; the end of Ramadan, the arrival of Eid, the dawn of another Sahel Season. Now, year in year out, Sahel-haters bemoan how busy and crowded it is, while also dismissing it with upturned noses. But, year in year out, we all flock to the North Coast for sun, sea, sand, and of course, the promise of a breezy, salty-aired bout of nightlife – and this year, Sahel’s increasing number of bars and venues have not disappointed…

SUMMER TIMES SEASON OPENING @ TABLA
    (Wednesday 6th)
    11

What is it? The return of Tabla on the North Coast – has anyone checked in on Tabla Sokhna recently? Is it ok?
Why should I go? Toronto-based singer-songwriter, Karl Wolf, is kind of a big deal back home and has that plain t-shirt, thin chain and lowered hat look to a tee.

AGUIZI & FAHIM + NOURRE FAHMY @ EXIT
    (Wednesday 6th)
    13612276_286624135023121_1352764275702431957_n

What is it? The official launch of the newest too-cool-for-school club in Sahel, Exit, which emerged out of the ashes of Void.
Why should I go? Because new is always better; plus, you can’t really go wrong with Aguizi & Fahim and Nourre Fahmy.

LAUNCH PARTY @ THE TAP NORTH
    (Thursday 7th)
    13439002_1696868590565467_4731985690287947812_n

What is it? The most exciting new addition to Sahel this summer – yes, you cannot escape the Tap.
Why should I go? Because it’s the Tap – not on the edge of Cairo nor opposite a shady looking sports club, but by the frickin  beach.

    WHITE PARTY @ 6IX DEGREES
    (Thursday 7th)
    13528925_1127607970595573_7309600511834850382_n

What is it? 6IX Degrees is back, y’all – love it or hate it, it’s been the most popular club on the North Coast for the last few years.
Why should I go? Because unless you’re Enrique Iglesias in the late 90s and early 2000s, opportunities to where all white are few and far between.

THIRD SON + ABOU SAMRA + BAHER + FAYEK @ EXIT
    (Thursday 7th)
    12998525_997962840240158_31564702562156558_n

What is it? The highlight event of Exit’s first week.
Why should I go? See above. It’s Third Son, guys – plus Baher, as well as Abou Samra and Fayek. It sells itself.

STEPHAN BODZIN + JEREMY OLADNER + HASSAN ABOU ALAM @ AURA ARENA
    (Friday 8th)
    13524276_1760665147523454_4352439853817596509_n

What is it? Another new nightspot – say hi to Aura Arena, guys.
Why should I go? Because, as mentioned earlier, new is always better. Plus Stephan Bodzin, Jeremy Olander and the man many consider to be the best in Cairo right now, Hassan Abou Alam, is a hot line-up.

POOL PARTY FT. AMR HOSNY @ THE TAP NORTH
    (Friday 8th)
    13445286_1691275837791409_8475995653863226291_n

    What is it? BOOL BAAARTY!
Why should I go? BECOZ BOOOOL BAAARTYY! Hot women who always seem to be opening their mouths slightly not included.

    SIGNATURE NIGHT @ 6IX DEGREES
    (Friday 8th)
    13495141_1126991757323861_4745346203856720080_n

What is it? The return of 6IX Degrees’ signature night, Signature Night…
Why should I go? Lil’ bit a DJing from Elie Abi, lil’ bit of hip-wiggling from belly-dancer Maya. What’s not to like?

POOL PARTY FT. MARC WAHBA + OMAR EL SABH @ THE TAP NORTH
    (Saturday 9th)
    the tap north

What is it? ANAZAR BOOL BARTY!
Why should I go? Because being tipsy and half naked while taking in the kind of music that Sabh and Wahba like to play is something you need tp experience at least once in your life. But also….BOOOOL BAAARRTY!
