  • Dopamina: Cairo Jazz Club Announces Surprise Act for Friday Night

Plans this Friday? Cancel them, because this Friday, Cairo Jazz Club is set to welcome two of Egypt’s best, Aly Goede and SHIHA, for a typically feverish Friday night of house music – or so we thought.

Never ones to rest on their laurels, the folk at CJC have added a surprise name to an already mouth-watering bill – Chilean-born, London-based German DJ Dopamina.

Dopamina by name dopamine-triggering by nature, her globetrotting ways have certainly shaped her music in the most unique of ways – music that she describes as a fusion of electronic music and global folklore.

Having been born in the colourful seaport of Valparaíso, Chile and travelling Europe before studying in one of London’s top art colleges and settling in the English capital, Dopamina’s penchant for the past and almost academic approach to her music amounts to one of the most unique sounds you’re likely to hear in Cairo all month – one that fuses ancestral drums, folk songs and acoustic instruments with the bass and synth that Cairo clubbers crave so much.

While she’s only on the cusp of what looks like an eclectic career to come, she’s already gathering a name for herself around London’s naughtiest nightspots, while her recently released podcast, Ancestronic, has been gathering steam on ResonanceEXTRA.

Don’t take our word for it, though – cancel those plans and check it out for yourself. For more on Dopamina, check her out on Mixcloud.
