November is a rather miserable month in Cairo; it’s too cold to escape to the beach, it gets dark at 5PM and you’re suddenly hit by the realisation that the year is almost over and you’ve done nothing of any use with your life in the past ten months, as the inevitable countdown to death continues.
It’s inevitable, then, that one would turn to the bottle and Cairo Jazz Club - the remedy of many an existential crisis – has another tasty line-up for this year’s edition of Dancestock.
Things kick off on Wednesday November 5th with DJ duo, Aguizi & Fahim, opening for Swiss indie and disco-house threesome, DBMM.
The following week on Wednesday 12th, the Boogie Monster, DJ Ramy, is on duty, with Swedish deep disco/house DJ, Chris Jylkke, headlining.
The Wednesday 19th gig stands out as possibly being the best, with Shady Ezz opening for a man who’s no stranger to Egypt, Sharam Jey.
The closing night of Dancestock 2014, meanwhile, sees the always excellent Aly Goede getting in on the action, with Tapesh headlining.
It’s going to be a busy November for CJC, with other big gigs ahead, including their annual Movember party, Ra2as Shanabak, on the cards as well gigs with Gawdat, SHawky and Toyboys amongst others.
