Come rain or shine, whether it’s the weekend or a week day, there’s always something to keep us entertained at Cairo Jazz Club – something you can’t say about many of Cairo’s bars and clubs.
In true CJC fashion, May is shaping up to be a veritable cocktail of live music and DJ appearances.
On Wednesday 7th, SHawky returns for another edition of Old is Nu alongside DJ Zalaat for a night of retro house and nu disco, while our good friend Shady Ezz gets behind the decks on Friday 9th.
Meanwhile, CJC invites two of the best up-and-coming DJs to strut their stuff on Monday 12th, with Tahawi and Omar Sherif. Coming out of left field compared to CJCs usual musical horizons, the interesting duo of Fayrouz Karawya and Ismail Hosny have been making heads bop and toes tap at D-CAF and VENT, and will incite more of the same at CJC on Saturday 17th.
Ibiza-based London Native, DJ Rae, is the man in charge of the music on Monday 19th, he second edition of hip-hop night, Say Whaaat? with DJ Feedo lands on Wednesday21st and Aguizi and Fahim will play back-to-back with Moneim on Friday 23rd.
My man Minus T is making Monday 26th manic with Gawdat, the brilliant Grey Grass take to the stage on May 27th and the Wedneday 28th edition of House Obsession brings together Hisham Zahran, Shady Ezz and Ouzo.
The real highlight of CJC's schedule, however, is the return of the El Fusion live music series. Last year's inaugural edition saw some of the best contemporary Arabic musical makers from across the region perform, including Lebanese band, Zeid and the Wings, Tunisia's Ghalia Benali and Ribab Fusion from Morocco. Expect more of the same.
This s just a taste of what CJC has in store this month - stay up-to-date with the CG events calendar.
