While the majority of Cairenes scramble for the last scraps of what’s left of the summer at Egypt’s coastal hotspots, back in the capital, the city’s venues are going all out for a very welcome three-day weekend. From Cairo Jazz Club, to ROOM Art Space, to Cairo Festival City, there’s plenty to get stuck into.

In Cairo Jazz Club’s pantheon of concepts, the bar’s tribute perennial nights have become something of a favourite. It’s understandable -  some of the city’s most talented musicians come together to salute legend. This time round, the man in question is the enigmatic lat Doors front-man, Jim Morrison, with the likes of Shady Ahmed, HanyMust and George Aboutar set to take to the stage.

MUSIC PARK FESTIVAL @ THE PLAYGROUND (Friday)

    mashrou leila

In what is one of the biggest music events of the weekend, three of the region’s most popular bands are coming together for one hell of a line-up.
