While Galleria40 has come to be known as a veritable playground for residents of Sheikh Zayed and 6th of October City, this weekend will see a new element to the dine-and-chill complex launch – the Galleria40 Culture Lab.
Though details have been few and far between thus far, the official launch on Friday 15th of January suggests that this will be a welcome addition to Galleria40. Kicking off at noon, the opening has plenty for lovers of the arts; Maadi’s Art Cafe will be in attendance and will be offering a number of activities to get stuck into, including calligraphy and painting workshops for adults and a ‘creativity table’ for kids, as well as a live cooking demo with Fatafeat star, Salma Soliman, and an art exhibition amongst other things.
There’s music-based fun to be had, too, with local band, Jukebox, set to perform among a host of other acts, as well as a drum circle that you will invariably get talked into joining, courtesy of nearby cultural centre, Art Mania. In addition, New Cairo’s Slimnastics Studio will be holding three performances of a stage-version of Sleeping Beauty, as well as ballet school auditions for girls under the age of 15. The sheer amount on offer at the opening points to big things for the future, with the Culture Lab looking to have many a finger in many an artistic pie.
The launch of the Galleria40 Culture Lab marks another step in the mall’s seemingly relentless efforts to stand apart from similar set-ups; some of the highlights of 2015 include Mouled Galleria40 during Ramadan and the Winter Festival, which hosted live performance from the likes of Cairokee, Massar Egabri and Yehya Khalil.
