Since launching in 2011, Al Hezb El Comedy has done wonders for the stand-up circuit in Egypt. Holding shows in Cairo and beyond, the group – now representing a whopping forty comedians – has reignited local interest in the comedic arts outside of the never-ending avalanche of stinky poo-poo that passes for comedy in Egyptian cinemas these days.
Recognition has come from further shores, too, with the group having taken part in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year - the same festival that provided a starting platform for the likes of the Monty Python team, Rowan 'Mr Bean' Atkinson and Stephen Fry amongst others.
Now back in Egypt and ready to celebrate, the team will be holding three big shows over three days between October 15th and 17th; things kick off at the District in Maadi, before moving onto AUC Greek Campus, then to Alexandria.
