Turkey; where East meets West; a country that sits on the cusps of modern European country and a familiar Middle Eastern balady-ness that isn’t too alien to Egypt – none more so than with the food.
From grills to sweets, Turkish cuisine is full of familiar dishes and ingredients, but with an acutely unique touch. Whether kofta or baklava, there are plenty of parallels. There are few Turkish restaurants to speak of in Cairo, but one stands high in the lofty company of the city’s fine-dining eateries: Osmanly.
The Kempinski Nile Hotel’s premiere restaurant is quite something and has claimed accolades for its top-notch food from everywhere, including our judicious friends at Cairo 360 who have given it consistently high ratings.
Because there’s some leftover Christmas spirit knocking around in Cairo Gossip headquarters, we’re giving you the chance to try it for yourself. For the very simple task of answering a very simple question, one Cairo Gossip reader will get to whisk away one friend to feast at what is one of the best restaurants in the city.
Just answer this question:
Name one of the three traditional Ottoman soups served by Osmanly. (Clues are in here, where you may or may not find the Osmanly menu – wink, wink.)
Send your answer to firstname.lastname@example.org, with your full name and contact details, and ‘Osmanly Competition’ in the subject line. The competition ends at midnight on Sunday 8th of February 2015; so hurry up and send your answers in! Terms and Conditions apply.
